


A Bonanza sex offender who was arrested in July of 2001 and later sent to prison for five years on a Class Y Rape conviction caught a break in Sebastian County Circuit Court on Wednesday after receiving a six year suspended sentence for Failing to Comply with the Requirements of the Sex and Child Offender Act.
Michal E. Leach, 62, was arrested by the Bonanza Police Deprtment for failing to register in September 2020 . He served five days in the Sebastian County Detentiuon Center prior to be released on an $11,750 legally sufficent bond.
Leach had also picked up a Domestic Battery charge in 2018 which eventually lead to a protection order from his then spouse. That protection order was filed approximately a week before his arrest on the Failure to Register charge.
In addition to the fines and fees payment of $75 per month starting in May, Leach was order to comply with the registration requitrements and to have no contact with the subject of the protection order.
