Since probation didn't work, maybe some time in the state prison system will

A Fort Smith woman who refused to smarten up after she was handed probation in 2021 on a plea deal for a 2020 drug conviction showed up in court on Wednesday of last week facing three felony charges including Possession of Methamphetamine with the Purpose to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Theft by Receiving.

Out on $6500 bond on those charges stemming from a January 19 arrest earlier this year, Rachel Michelle Garner's next stop will be as a guest of the Arkansas Department of Corrections for two years with eight years suspended on each of her felony counts.

As usual, the sentences were set to run concurrently, and the 30-year-old also received a year in a local facility for a misdemeanor Theft by Receiving charge as part of the deal.

As part of the plea, a Petition to Revoke was dropped and Felony Failure to Appear warrant was withdrawn. She will face $60 per month payments towards fees started 90-days after her release and lost driving privileges for six months.
