Sex Offenders in Your Neighborhood: Central Fort Smith

Fifteen registered sex offenders live within a one mile radius in central Fort Smith surrounding an area starting at a random point in the 5800 block of Rogers Avenue according to information from the Fort Smithy Police Department website.

The radius is somewhat of a misnomer, as the majority of the offenders are actually within a 3/4ths of a mile radius border to the north by Ellsworth Avenue and to the south by Heather Moor Court. The east -west axis is South 46th to the west back to South 66th to the east. All of the offenders live south of Rogers Avenue,

Nine of the fifteen offenders were convicted for crimes against minors, with one of the victims in an internet stalking child being just twelve years old. One of the victims of actual sexual contact was just eleven years old.

Six of the offenders are Level 3 High Risk while seven others are Classified at Level 2 Medium Risk. Two are considered Level 1 offenders.

None of these offenders are currently wanted for a crime except one. James Alan Burke Jr., who is on the list f0or sexual contact with a fourteen year-old female, is currently non-compliant with his registration status.

These offenders are listed as a public service and to keep citizens of the area inside the radius informed.
