According to mapping information from the Fort Smith Police Department, a one-mile circle radiating from the intersection of North 50th and North M Street is home to twenty-two registered sex offenders, including one who is currently non-compliant with his registration requirements and status.
From north to south, the area encompasses an area bounded by Kelley Highway to the north and Free Ferry Lane to the south. The west to east line extends from the intersection of North 37th Street and North L to the area past I540 beyond Grand Avenue.
Included in the area is the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, Kimmons Middle School, Pike, Sunnymeade and Sutton Elementary schools, at least two daycares and the Walmart Super Center off Kelley Highway.
The offenders range in age from 28 t0 59 years old. At least sixteen of the offenders were arrested for sexual activity with individuals under the age of sixteen, with the youngest victim being just ten.
Three men on the list were convicted on incestuous activity with children, including one who was convicted of having a 12-year-old female perform oral sex on him in exchange for a package of cigarettes.
One offender, Raul Hernandez, who last known address was in the 4700 block of Skywood Drive, has an arrest warrant active as a non-compliant offender.
None of the other individuals on the list are currently wanted by any agency for any sexually related crimes.
