A 70-year-old Springdale woman is dead after a two vehicle accident on East Huntsville Road in Springdale on Tuesday according to information from the Springdale Police Department released through the Arkansas State Police website.
Connie Ethel Blagg, a former resident of Farmington, Prairie Grove and Cardwell, Mo., was killed at just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of East Huntsville and North Monitor roads when the vehicle she was a passenger in turned in front of westbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado at a traffic light.
Witness statements say the truck struck a 2000 BMW 3-series sedan driven by 75-year-old Gary Dean Hazelett, also of Springdale. Witness said the Silverado had a green light to proceed through the intersection and the truck struck the BMW on the passenger side.
Hazelett was taken to the Northwest medical center for treatment of injuries.
The accident was worked by officer Patrick Olcott of the Springdale Police Department who listed the conditions as clear and the road as dry at the time of the accident.
Blagg's death represents the 279th of the year in Arkansas on roads and highways.
