Seventy year-old Harley rider killed in Saturday afternoon accident in rural Franklin County
A report filed with the Arkansas State Police says a 70-year-old Topeka, Kansas man died Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle wreck along a stretch of State Highway 215 in extreme rural Franklin County.
According to information released by the ASP, Swim Steven was piloting a 2011 Harley Davidson west on Highway 215 at 4:21 p.m. when he ran off the roadway to the north, struck a ditch and then hit a road sign. Steven was taken to Washington Regional Hospital where he was declared dead.
Deputy Larry Moore of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office worked the accident and said the pavement was dry in the daylight conditions.
The death of Steven was one of six that has been reported during the Memorial Day weekend and the highway death toll i the state now stands at 243 for the year.
