Sebastian County jury sends Poteau man to prison for six years on two of four felony charges

A rare jury trial occured in Sebastian County Circuit Court on Monday as a 30-year-old Poteau man was found guilty of Felony Theft by Receiving and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia charges and sentenced to three and six years respectively on those crimes.
The sentences for Joseph Wayne Allen were set to run concurrently in the case, which also saw the jury being unable to reach a verdict on Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms charges.
The sentence that was imposed came from the jury recommendation after the sentencing phase.
Allen was arrest on January 26, 2020 and orignally charged with the four felony counts. He awaits transfer to the Arkansas Deprtment of Corrections at the Sebastian County Detention Center.
