Saturday motorcycle wreck in rural Polk County claims Iowa resident

Police say a motorcyclist from Iowa was killed on Saturday just before noon in a crash that occurred along a rural stretch of State Highway Highway 88 north of Mena in Polk County

Daniel Mick, 41, of Urbandale, Iowa was traveling eastbound on the scenic highway on a Honda FTR when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve, ran off the roadway, and overturned. He struck a guardrail before the bike came to rest on the north side of the highway.

Mick was pronounced dead at 12:55 PM at the Mena Regional Hospital.

Responding trooper F. Summitt reported conditions were clear and the pavement was dry at the time of the accident.
