Saturday dump truck wreck in Centerton fatal to 70-year-old Elkins man

Officials with the Benton County Sheriff's Office say that a high rate of speed and an S curve on State Highway 72 in Centerton combined to result in the death of a 70-year-old Elkins man.

According to a preliminary accident report filed by the Benton County Sheriff's office with the Arkansas state police, Henry Jim Netzel of Elkins was driving a 2007 Mack CTP dump truck westbound on State Highway 72 when he failed to negotiate one of the curves approaching Versailles Boulevard..

The truck's momentum caused it to flip over on the driver's side, pinning Netzel beneath the vehicle.

Benton County Deputy Colin Delaney worked the accident and listed clear weather conditions and a dry roadway during the 12:31 p.m. crash.

Nexell's death was the 36th of the year on Arkansas roads and highways.
