Saturay morning accident in Fayetteville responsible for death of 53-year-old bicycle rider


A pedestrian accident in Fayetteville on Saturday took the life of a 53-year-old Washington County man according to information from the Fayetteville Police Department.
A report filed with the Arkansas State Police and posted on the Arkansas Department of Public D=Safety website says that 53-year-old Ricky Harrington of Fayetteville was attempting to cross the crosswalk at the intersection of Shiloh drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard on a bicycle Saturday moning.
The bike on which Harrington was riding was struck by southbound 2001 Toyota at the intersection. Harrington was initially taken to the Washington Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to the report the accident occurred at 11:08 a.m. Saturday morning and officers reported the road was dry and the weather conditions were clear at the time of the impact
Harrington's death marks the 502nd of the year on Arkansas roads and highways.
