A Pope County man who was four years into a period of supervised release after serving six years in federal prison on child pornography charges before being arrested again in 2019 for sexual indecency with a minor is back in the news after an arrest on a warrant for Rape and Sexual Assault.
Justin Daniel Deatherage, 46, of Russellville will face trial after an arrest on Friday on a warrant issued December 9, 2020.
That arrest came on the on the heels of his most stint from state prison after serving a little more than a year of his 2019 conviction because officials say he exposed himself to an eight year-old girl at the Russellville Walmart.
Deatherage had already served almost a year in the Pope County Detention Center when the verdict came down in 2020 so with good behavior factored in to this two-year stretch he spent little time in prison
Deatherage, who had been released from federal prison in 2015 on the child pornography charges, is currently back in jail because investigators said he raped and assaulted a child over a one-year period before his November 2019 arrest.
Court records indicated the victim was biological relative of Deatherage and the act of Rape occurred just one time with the Sexual Assault being an ongoing thing during the two year period.
Investigators were acting on a tip for the Arkansas State Child Abuse Hotline when Deat5herage was accused of the rape of the minor victim.
