A 30-year-old Russellville man remains behind bars in the Pope County Detention Center after his arrest last week for failing to register as a sex offender.
According to online information from the Pope County Sherrif's Office Juan Carlos Escobedo, 30, whose last registered address was in the 1900 block of South Boulder place in Russellville, was booked into jail on Friday for failing to comply with the state sexual offender registration requirements.
Information from Arkansas Court Connect indicates this is Escobedo's third arrest for offenses related to his original sex crime.. Espodeo is listed as a Level 2 (moderate) offender.
He was convicted of failing to register or failing to pay registration fees after incidents in 2016 and 2022. The date of his original conviction for sexual assault in the second degree apparently occurred sometime between 2014 and 2016.
Both those incidents occurred in Pope County, however, there is nothing on Arkansas Court Connect that indicates his initial charge for the sex crime occurred in the state of Arkansas.
Today in Fort Smith will continue to monitor the situation and will bring you any developing news as it becomes available.
