Rogers police seeking information on two suspects in Saturday hit-and-run fatality



The Arkansas State Police says a Welling, Oklahoma man was killed on Saturday in a double hit-and-run inside the city limits of Rogers.


Officals say 45-year-old Gary Stennett of Welling was driving a Harley-Davidson FLHT southbound on South 1st Street in Rogers when a 2005 Honda MX 250 going east on Olrich Street ran a stop sign and the two motorcycles collided.


Stennet fell from his bike and was run over by a unknown vehicle traveling north on 1st Street, The driver of the Honda MX 250 left his motorcycle in a grassy area near the intersection and fled the scene on foot.


The driver of the unknown vehicle that killed Stennett also fled from the scene. Police say that vehicle is possibly a a Jeep Liberty or Dodge Nitro with damage to the front passenger headlight assembly.


Stennett was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Benton County Coroners office.


Investigating officer Dale Brooks noted there was heavy rain and the road was wet at the time of the accident, which resulted in the 405th fatality of the year on Arkansas roadways.
