The Arkansas State Police is reporting the death of a 81-year-old Rogers man in an accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Benton County.
According to information compiled by the Rogers Police department and released by the ASP on Tuesday, Savareno Vega was riding a bicycle in the outside southbound lane of the roadway when he turned left without a warning into traffic.
A 2004 Chevrolet Silverado swerved but was unable to avoid a collision with the cyclist. Polic say the accident happened at 5: 21 p.m.
Vega was transported to Mercy hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Officer Dale Brooks of the Rogers Police department worked the accident and noted that the weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the fatal crash.
