Scattered showers linger late this morning across southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas as the overnight/early morning thunderstorm complex exits the area. A few thunderstorms will continue to be possible into this afternoon along any remnant outflow boundaries. Another complex of thunderstorms is likely to affect parts of the area late Monday night into Tuesday morning. A brief respite from storms is expected in most of the area during the middle part of the week, and this will allow the heat to build back over the area. Heat index values from 105 to 110 degrees will become common Wednesday and Thursday. Late this week into next weekend, the weather pattern is expected to return to one more favorable for mainly nighttime and morning thunderstorm complexes, with locally heavy rainfall and some severe weather potential with the stronger storm complexes.
