

Officials in Craighead County said an investigative case file will be presented to the prosecuting attorney after a Jonesboro police officer shot and killed a suspect at a Jonesboro address on Tuesday.
According to various media reports out of eastern Arkansas, 26-year-old Lee McCracken Jr of Little Rock was in the 1100 block of West Jefferson Avenue around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday night and was threatening others with a knife.
The first officer on the scene was officer Zach Hobbs radioed "shots had been fired. while other officers were in route to the location.
One additional officers arrived on the scene they located McCracken Jr on the ground dead from wounds to his upper torso. Officer Hobbs reportedly suffered facial and head injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
An incident report and press release from the Arkansas State Police said emergency personnel administered first aid to McCracken at the scene, a claim disputed by an anonymous eyewitness at the scene of the shooting.
The witness told a Jonesboro television station that after hearing gunshots they ran outside to find Hobbs standing over the prone suspect with his gun still in his hand. The witness said "the cop froze" after the initial shots were fired and "didn't do anything" to render aid.
Officials said the completed case file would be turned over to the prosecuting attorney to see if charges would be filed against the officer.
