A Fort Smith man who has been arrested and jailed for numerous felony violations for drugs and firearms since 2017 was sentenced to six years in prison with an additional six years suspended in Sebastian County Circuit Court this week.
According to paperwork and documentation from Arkansas Court Connect 26-year-old Stephon Marquise Barron, who lives in the 2800 block of North R Street in Fort Smith, was sentenced on Thursday for Possession of Firearms by Certain Person's charges stemming from a July 10th arrest by the Fort Smith Police Department.
Barron, who has had nearly a dozen felony arrest in the past six years, received the sentence after a negotiated plea deal in Sebastian County Circuit Court.
His booking record in the Sebastian County Detention Center also shows numerous arrests for absconding, parole violations, contempt and failure to appear.
According to information from Arkansas Court connect, Baron has been sentenced to 286 months incarceration in nine different Court actions since 2017. He also has amassed over 600 months of suspended sentences during the same time period.
As part of the plea deal, Barron had to agree to make "a good faith effor" towards completion of a high school diploma or GED certificate while incarcerated. Despite the numerous months he has racked up in the past and his violations of parole when released, Baron will once again be eligible for parole based on good behavior during his new six-year sentence. Baron remained in the custody of the Sebastian County Detention Center as of 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning awaiting transfer to the ADC.
