Reduced charge in plea deal still sends Altus man to prison for five years

An Altus man with a number of felony convictions dating back over the past decade was able to get charges of Robbery reduced to Theft by Treat in Sebastian County Circuit Court on Wednesday, drawing five years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections with fifteen years suspended on the plea deal according to court records.

Glenden Joseph Gilbreath, 27, drew the 60 month sentence for an incident that occurred at a Fort Smith Family Dollar on March 1, 2020. He was sentenced as a habitual offender.

Gilbreth, who has been in the SCADC since September 2, 2020, was given credit for time served on the concurrent sentences.

As part of his plea agreement he must start6 paying fines and fess to the court at $60 per month upon release and he is banned form all Family Dollar stores in the future.
