A 24-year-old Russellville man is behind bars after an arrest on Wednesday by the Pope County Sheriff's Department on one charge of Rape and one charge of Sexual Assault in the First Degree according to information from Pope County Detention Center booking information.
George Lucas West, who appears to live in the 1000 block of Ridgewood Drive in Russellville, was booked into the Pope County Detention Center at 11:03 p.m. Wednesday night. It appears West lived in California before moving to Russellville in 2017.
As of 8:00 p.m. Friday night, nothing had been listed on Arkansas Court Connect concerning the case.
Sexual Assault in the Firs Degree in Arkansas as a Class A felony. It is defined as sexual penetration without consent, or serious physical injury while attempting sexual penetration without consent, or sexual penetration with a person the perpetrator knows is mentally incapable and is in the offender's Care by authority of law and in a facility / program required to be licensed by the state.
Rape is a class Y Felony and carries a minimum term of imprisonment of 25 years.
