Quorum court to name interim successor after Sebastian County treasurer/collector resigns
The Sebastian County Quorum Court is expected to address making an appointment at the December meeting to fill the position of collector/treasurer after the sudden resignation of longtime office-holder Judith Miller.
Miller informed county judge David Hudson via letter in November of her intention to step down from the $93,731 per-year position, citing a “life-changing event” as her reason for stepping down after her 11th year in office.
Miller was first elected to the position in 2008, according to county records.
Miller also recommended that longtime chief deputy Tammie Brown be named as interim treasurer/collector to serve out the remainder of her term. Brown has been an employee of the office during Miller's entire tenure.
The required legal notices have been placed in the local newspaper accepting applications for the vacancy. The position will be filled after the members review the applications.
