A 26-year-old Pottsville man who was driving the night his 21-year-old girlfriend lost her life in a rollover accident in August 2020 on a rural stretch of State Highway 105 in Pope County was arrested Saturday on a bench warrant. Shane Allen Walker was charged with Negligent Homicide, Reckless Driving, Driving on Suspended License and two counts of failure to Appear according to information from the pope County Sheriff Office.
Shane Allen Walker was arrested on a warrant issued on May 6 in the death of Chelsey Nocole Mullen of Pottsville on a rain-soaked roadway on August 7, 2020 at 12:57 p.m. According to the Arkansas State Police preliminary report on the accident, Walker was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram truck when he failed to negotiate a left hand turn.
The truck spun, exited the roadway to the right side of the highway and hit a ditch line. After going up a slight embankment, the truck then struck a tree and rolled over, coming to rest on the roof.
Arkansas Court Connect records show no charges were filed in the case until May 6. In addition to the felony Homicide charge, Walker drew the three misdemeanor charges and the failure to appear counts on the same date.
Walker remains jailed in Pope County pending a bond hearing early next week.
