Pope County Sheriff: Body found Saturday at Holla Bend Wildlife Refuge identified as 17-year-old

According to information released by the Pope County Sheriff office on Monday, the remains located at the Holla Bend Federal Wildlife Refuge on Saturday has been positively identified as being those of seventeen year-old Savana Kathleen Elliot.


Pictures of tattoos on the boy of Ms. Elliot were posted on Today in Fort Smith on Sunday in an effort to expediated identity of the recovered body.


On Saturday at approximately 5:30 a.m., Yell County Sheriff’s Office received a report of human remains located in Holla Bend Refuge.


On their arrival, it was determined that the remains were located in the Pope County portion of the refuge and Pope County Sheriff’s Investigators were notified to respond.


There has been no information released as to whether authorities think foul play may be involved.
