Pope County resident who continually fails to register as sex offender released on bond

A 28 year-old man whose last address was in the 70 block of Daily Circle in Atkins was taken into custody last week and booked into the Pope County Detention Center fir failing to comply with the conditions of his probation as a sex offender.

Justice Aaron Fildes was arrested by the Pope County Sheriff Office on March 18 and bonded out after a bond hearing on Thursday.

The arrest marks the third time since 2015 that Fildes has been arrested for Class C Felony Failure to Register or Report Address Change on the backside of a 2013 sex crime conviction for Sexual Assault on a negotiated plea after he digitally penetrated a 13-year-old girl.

He had been arrested back in August of 202 on the same charge and --for the second time--was allowed to negotiate a plea and receive 72 months of probation.

Fildes was sentenced to 72 months in prison with 48 months suspended and ordered to pay fines and court cost in his original trial. He had also received a suspended imposition of sentence in 2012 for a burglary charge to which he pleaded guilty.

In March of 20165, Fildes also drew a 24 month sentence for Failing to register as a Sex Offender in the Greenwood District of Sebastian County.

So, if you're keeping score. Sexual assault, third arrest for failing to register as a sex offender and released on bond to go on this merry way.

Stay tuned for a trial in a few months for his latest slap on the wrist.
