Pope County man arrested second time for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

A Pope County man whose last reported address was in the 300 block of Heflin Hill Lane in Russellville remains behind bars in the Pope County Detention Center tonight after a Friday arrest for failing to register as an sex offender.


The arrest marks the second time since 2015 that Justice Aaron Fildes has been arrested for Class C Felony Failure to Register or Report Address Change n thee backside of a 2013 sex crime conviction for Sexual Assault on a negotiated plea after he digitally penetrated a 13-year-old girl.

Fildes, then 21, was sentenced to 72 months in prison with 48 months suspended and ordered to pay fines and court cost, He had also received a suspended imposition of sentence in 2012 for a burglary charge to which he pleaded guilty.


In March of 20165, Fildes also drew a 24 month sentence for Failing to register as a Sex Offender in the Greenwood District of Sebastian County.


Fildes remains jailed pending a bond hearing in Pope County Circuit Court.
