Pope County degenerate behind bars with $200,000 bond on felony charges

A 38-year-old male resident of Pope County was arrested Thursday and charged with two felony counts related to sex crimes.


Steven Wayne Wells was arrested by the Pope County Sheriff Office and charged with ne count each of Rape and the Crime of Video Voyeurism. Wells was booked into the Pope County Sheriff Office at 7:46 Thursday morning and remains behind bars facing a $200,000 bond.


Court was closed as we compiled this story, so details will be added at a later date.


Rape is a Class Y felony, which is punishable by imprisonment in the following manner: An offender shall be imprisoned not less than 10 years and not more than 40 years, or life.


Surreptitious photography or recording of another person inside a structure is a class D felony in Arkansas. . Anyone convicted of a class D felony in Arkansas faces up to six years in prison and a a fine of up to $10,000.


Wells had felony arrests back in the 1990's for drug-related crimes and breaking and entering.
