The Johnson County sheriff's office says that an accidental shooting on Monday in the Lutherville community has taken the life of a 9-year-old juvenile and sent a 7-year-old to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Information released by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office says at approximately 8:23 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call about the shooting. The parents of the children met Johnson County EMS in the city of Lamar where they had transported the victims. r. The juveniles were transported from there to the Johnson County Regional Medical Center and life-saving efforts were performed by hospital staff.
Those efforts were unsuccessful for the 9-year-old. The 7-year-old was treated and released.
At this time no other information is being released about the case. The shooting is being jointly investigated by the Johnson County Criminal Investigation Division, , and the Arkansas State Police.
According to officials it does not appear at this time that criminal charges will be filed based on the initial investigation.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office Clarksville and Lamar police and Johnson County Emergency services all responded to the incident.
