Police say 84-year-old killed earlier in the week in two-vehicle crash on I40 in Crawford County

After a short delay pending notification of next of kin, the Arkansas State Police and the Department of Public Safety has released information on an accident that killed a Van Buren man on Wednesday.

According to a preliminary port filed with the ASP and posted on the ADPS website, 84-year-old Don Peters of Van Buren was the victim in a single vehicle accident that occurred at 12:10 p.m. on Interstate 40 near the Mile Marker 7 in Crawford County.

Police say Peters was the driver of a 2021 Subaru that collided with the rear end of a 2022 motorhome that was traveling east on I-40. After striking the motorhome, the Subaru exited the roadway to the left into the median and rolled multiple times.

Peters was transported to the Washington regional medical facility in Fayetteville where he expired from his injuries.

Investigating trooper Tim Robinson noted that weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.

Peter's death was recorded as a 324th of the year on Arkansas roads and highways.
