Police identify I-49 rear-end collision victim as 18=year-old Edgerton, Kansas woman


The Arkansas state police on Sunday released details of an accident on I-49 in Washington County last week that took the life of a Edgerton, Kansas teenager.

According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas state police, Jorgia Cole, 18, was a passenger in a 2005 GMC Sierra that was southbound on I-49 just after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The GMC was struck from behind by a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu causing the Sierra to overturn, ejecting both occupants. The driver of the Sierra, 28-year-old Stewart Sayward of Wesley Arkansas was taken to a Tulsa hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The driver of the Chevy Malibu was not identified in the report. State Police trooper Shane Akire noted cloudy weather conditions and wet pavement at the time of the accident.

Police ay the accident occurred at the 43- mile marker of the southbound lane of the interstate.
