Podcaster who relies on sensationalism to draw listeners targets Northwest Arkansas true crime writer

By Dennis McCaslin - Editor

As promised, this is part two of our coverage of Javier Jose Leiva's podcast, The Pretend Podcast, and his series titled "Who's Afraid of LaDonna Humphrey."

LaDonna Humphrey

This series targets LaDonna Humphrey, a nonprofit director, true crime writer, filmmaker, advocate for victims, and mother of seven from Northwest Arkansas, with unfounded allegations, half-truths, and outright lies.

In our last article, we discussed the episode featuring Alecia Lockhart, a resident of St. Croix in the Virgin Islands. Lockhart, a former porn star turned author and podcaster, collaborated with LaDonna Humphrey on a book titled "Strangled" and the Deep Dark Secrets Podcast.

This week, we focus on the episode featuring Patti Rush, an Alma resident. Rush, a former contributor to Today in Fort Smith, was dismissed from our publication after attempting to use her position to access cold cases in various police departments without our knowledge or permission.

Her appearance on the podcast is seemingly unhinged, as she accuses Humphrey of texting her about the "Muffin Man." Rush presented a laundry list of bitter accusations against the successful author, none of which could be substantiated.

A quick look into Rush's background raises eyebrows.

Today in Fort Smith discovered that her organization, REVAMP (Remember Every Victim and Missing Person), is not registered with the Arkansas Charitable Giving Division.

Despite this, according to the agency's IRS 990s, the group has solicited donations since its inception without proper registration. Calls to REVAMP were not returned to Today in Fort Smith this afternoon.

Additionally, Rush has a long record of legal issues, including multiple bankruptcies, rumors of gambling problems, and multiple arrests for violating the Arkansas Hot Check Law.

Remarkably, Rush's questionable history was not included in the podcast. It seems that the host, Javier Jose Leiva, and his company, Creative Babble, do not deal in facts but instead with unverifiable information from a cast of bizarre characters.

In our next installment, we'll discuss alternative nightclub owner Anthony Christopher and his involvement in the podcast.
