Plea deal still sends Fort Smith man to ten years in Arkansas Department of Corrections

The 12th Circuit Court of Sebastian County came down hard on Fort Smith after a plea deal saw prosecutors drop two felonies and hammer down on two others on Friday.

Thirty-one year-old Darren Jaye Jones was hit with two ten years sentences and ten years suspended on Possession of a Controlled Substance and for a Terroristic Act while avoiding prosecution on a firearms violation and a second intent to deliver charge.

The sentences were set to run concurrently.

The sentencing stems from an October 24 arrest last year on a felony warrant. Jones has been in the Sebastian County Detention Center since that arrest on a $250,000 cash bond.

He received credit for seven months served.
