Plea deal results in concurrent six year terms for Fort Smith felon
A Fort Smith man will be visiting some new territory at the Arkansas Department of Corrections after a plea deal in Sebastian County Circuit Court this week resulted in six year concurrent sentences on a number of felony charges.
Joseph W. Summers of Fort Smith entered a guilty plea to two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphenalia and one count of Theft by Receiving and the three felonies all earned six year sentences to be served concurrently in the ADC.
He also got a fourteen year suspended sentence on the felonies and drew one year on related misdemeanor charges, which also was set to run with other sentences.
Summers was able to avoid sentencing on a Felony Petition to Revoke in the plea agreement. He had been in the Sebatian County Detention Center since his March 18 arrest and received credit for jail time already served.
Summers had a codefendant in the case, Tiffanee White, but the court agreed to nolle prosse White as part of the plea agreement.
