Plea deal on drug-related charges sends local man back to prison with five-year sentence

A Fort Smith felon who started his criminal career just a year after graduating from a local high school back in 2013 was sentenced as a habitual offender in Sebastian County Circuit Court after a plea deal on drug-related charges.


According to court records, 28-year-old Tyrin D, Chapple, whose address is listed as being in the 5200 block of Birnie Avene in Fort Smith, received a suspended sentence in 2013 for a theft-related conviction and was sentenced to 62 months in prison back in 2019. He was given five years with ten years suspended on each felony count stemming from an August 28 arrest this year by the Arkansas State Police.


Chapple, whose release on probation was just over two years ago, was hit with a combination of fourteen charges after his arrest on August 28. He had been in the SCDC since that time and was given 90 days as a commitment hold pending his plea deal on Thursday.


Chapple was sentenced for Delivery of Methamphetamine, Heroin, or Cocaine, Fleeing and a Probation Violation according o court records.
