A 34-year-old Fort Smith woman caught a ten-year imposed sentence with an additional 20-years suspended on the back side of a plea deal for possession of methamphetamine with a purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia charges Wednesday morning in Sebastian County Circuit Court.
According to released court records Amber Nicole West, who has a varied and long-term record of various arrests and convictions, drew the sentence after appearing in court with public defender Christina Scherry and agreeing to the plea deal.
West has been held in Sebastian County Detention Center since March the 18 after her arrest on the drug charges as well as a theft of property charge. She was also charged at that time with a parole violation and absconding.
The sentence she was handed on drug charges is set to run concurrently with her term for her parole violation.
According to docket information from Arkansas Court Connect, West has picked up four felony arrest and convictions since September of 2015. She was sentenced to 36 months in prison out of Johnson county on July 21, 2021 and was out on parole for that criminal activity when she was arrested in March.
West was given jail time credit for the day she spent in the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center since her March arrest. She was required to furnish the system with a DNA sample and is scheduled to cover her court cost at $60 a month beginning 90 days after her release. She also had her driver's license suspended for six months.
West will be held in the SCADC until her transfer to the Arkansas department of corrections.
