Plea deal on drug charges and failure to appear sends Van Buren man to prison for 15-years


Several failure to appear charges coupled with three drug charges and parole violations came together to send a Van Buren man to prison for 15 years with 35-years suspended after proceedings in Sebastian County Circuit Court last Wednesday.


Casey Vernall Mays, 38, was arrested on three felony charges, absconding, parole violation, and contempt charges on February 16 and released on bond March 3. He failed to show for his arraignment arrangement and was arrested again o May 13 and has been in the Sebastian County Detention Center since that time.


In court n Wednesday, Mays entered a guilty plea to all outstanding charges, drawing the fifteen-year (total time) sentence
