Plea deal for delivery of methamphtamine results in 12-year prison term for Van Buren woman

A Crawford County woman with a myriad of arrests in Sebastian County dating back to 2015 avoided additional decades in prison with a plea deal in Sebastian County Circuit Cort earlier this week.

According to court information, 25-year-old Valerie Ruyby Garza, whose booking address was in the 500 block of Baldridge Street in Van Buren, entered a guilty plea to Delivery of Methamphetamine stemming from a May 22 arrest.

She was also charged with two counts--one felony and one misdemeanor--for failure to appear in 2020. She was given 12-years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections with an additional 28 years suspended.

She was arrested in April of this year and has been incarcerated since that time and has had previous arrests for drug paraphernalia, theft of property, and a number of contempt charges since 2015.

She awaits transfer for processing into the ADC at the Sebastian County Detention Center.
