A pedestrian accident in rural Madison County on Wednesday took the life of a 64-year-old St Paul man according to information from the Arkansas State Police. According to a preliminary report by the ASP that was posted on the Arkansas Department of safety website, 64-year-old Jerry McCain of Saint Paul walked into the path of a 2010 eastbound Toyota Camry. The impact knocked McCain into the eastbound Lane under the driver side of a 2008 eastbound Aspen . The accident occurred on State Highway 16 in a rural part of Madison County. The report listed no reason for McCain to have walked into the path of the first vehicle and assigned no blame in the accident. The accident was investigated by trooper Harley Hopper of the Arkansas State Police who noted foggy conditions and a wet roadway at the time of the accident. The accident occurred at 11:35 p.m. according to the ASP preliminary report.
