On Friday Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 59-year-old David Lee Williams, a resident of Miami on charges of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Additional charges related to a prior forcible sodomy case in California have also been noted in connection with his arrest.
According to authorities, Williams’ arrest stems from his non-compliance with Oklahoma’s sex offender registration requirements, a mandate for individuals previously convicted of certain sexual offenses. The failure to register charge indicates that Williams did not properly update or maintain his status with local law enforcement, as required by state law.
While specific details about the California forcible sodomy charge were not disclosed in the Ottawa County booking records, it suggests a prior conviction in California.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has not released further information about the circumstances leading to Williams’ arrest or whether additional charges are pending.
Williams remains in custody at the Ottawa County Jail.
