OSBI investgating officer-involved shooting in west-central Oklahoma

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Mustang, Okla., at approximately 6:45 p.m.


Based on the OSBI’s initial investigation, this is what is known at this time:


• Just after 7 p.m., the Mustang Police Department requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) investigate an officer-involved shooting.


• Officers from Mustang encountered the suspect, who was suspected of Driving Under the Influence, in a parking lot at SW 59th and Mustang Road.


• During the encounter, the suspect presented a firearm. Shots were fired and the suspect died at the scene.

• A firearm was recovered in the parking lot.


There is no additional information to be released at this time including the name of the suspect and/or the officers involved.


Upon completion of the OSBI investigation, a report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney will determine whether or not to file charges.
