The Arkansas State Police says a 70-year-old Hindsville man was killed in an accident in rural Madison County on Monday.
According to a preliminary report issued by the ASP, Ike Evans of Hindsville was driving a 2013 Ford northbound on State Highway 45 right around 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
For unknown reasons the Evans vehicle crossed the center line and exited the roadway in a northwest direction. The Ford then stuck a fence before colliding with a tree. The vehicle came to final rest near the base of that tree.
Evans was declared that at the same and his body was taken to the Madison County funeral home.
The accident was work by Trooper Harley Hopper who said the weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
Evan's death was the 375th fatality recorded on Arkansas roads and highways in 2023. That compares to 398 fatalities for the same time period a year ago.
