One-vehicle accident on rural Polk County road claims 40-year-old Mena man

The Arkansas State Police say a 40-year-old Mena man lost his life at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday when the 2012 Jeep Wrangler he was driving west on Polk County Road 60 ran off the roadway.


According to the ASP preliminary report on the accident, Jerin B. Ferguson of Mena drive the jeep off the road and into a ditch before striking a tree, which caused the vehicle to overturn. According to the rport, Ferguson was pronouced dead aat the scene by Polk County Deputy Coroner Garrett Lundberg at 8:10 a.m. Sunday morning.


The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident, which accounts for the 208th traffic fatality of 2020 in Arkansas.
