One person dead, students injured after vehicle rear-ends Green Forest School District bus



Police say a 24-year-old driver died in a Carroll County crash Wednesday morning, after the vehicle he was driving rear-ended a Green Forest School District bus.


The 2021 International Harvester bus, which was carrying sixteen students at the time of the 8 am crash on Highway 62 just east of Green Forest, was struck in he rear by a 2019 Hyundai driven by 24 year-old Christopher Anderson of Harrison. Both vehicles were in the westbound lane at the time of the accident. According to the Arkansas State Police preliminary report, the bus was stopped along the roadway as students were loading. Both vehicles caught on fire and at least four students were injured.


The ASP Report specifies that passengers on the bus and students who were outside waiting to load were injured as well. The students were all treated at Mercy Hospital of Berryville. Corporal Drew w Widner of the Arkansas State Police worked the accident and reported conditions were clear and the pavement was dry at the time if impact.
