One dead, seven injured in US Highway 65 crash in Boone County
A Rogers woman died on Monday as the result off a two vehicle collision Monday night in Boone County that also injured eight other individuals.
The Arkansas State Police say that Maria Ruiz, 40, was killed in the accident that happened inside the city limits in Harrison near the US Highway 65 rest area at 8:40 p.m. Monday.
Ruiz was a passenger in a southbound 2017 Toyota driven by Jonathan Aviles, 20, of Rogers that had stopped on the side of the highway. The Toyota made a u-turn into the southbound lane and the car was hit on the rear right by a 2010 Ford driven by 43 year-old Michael Hendricks of Harrison.
Aviles and Hendricks were both injured as well as a 22-year old female and 35-year-old male passenger, both from Rogers, in the Toyota as well as a minor child. Two others in the Ford also sustained injuries.
ASP trooper Josh Valetin reported conditions were clear and the road way was dry at the time of impact.
