


A 21-year-old Russellville Man is dead and a number of other individuals were injured in an accident that occurred Friday afternoon inside the city limits of Dover in Pope County.
Information taken from a preliminary accident report posted on the Arkansas Department of Public Safety website Jaidyn Bird of Russellville was the driver of a 1999 Jeep traveling west on State Highway 164 at approximately 5:40 p.m.
The report says Bird attempted to pass a 2011 Chevy going the same direction and struck the vehicle's rear end. The impact caused both vehicles to lose control and cross into the eastbound lanes.
Both autos left the roadway, rolled over, and made contact with a guardrail and concrete poles. The Jeep came to rest upside down.
Those listed among the injured was 21-year-old Elizabeth Anderson, who was a passenger in the Jeep. Thirty-four-year-old Jeremy Cates, 34-year-old Brittany Coates, and two minor children who were occupants of the Chevrolet were all transported to St. Mary's in Russellville, UAMS, or the Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock,.
Arkansas State Trooper William J. Crabb investigated the accident and reported clear weather conditions and a dry roadway at the time of the incident.
