Oklahoma man still facing serious charges in hit-and-run given seven year sentence on felony plea
An Oklahoma convict who has done time in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections on drug charges and has a current case pending in Leflore County for leaving the Scene of a Fatality Accident was sentenced to seven years on various charges in Sebastian County Circuit Court on Wednesday according to court records.
Twenty-eight-year-old Joshua Tanner Jones of Hodgen who was arrested in January and February of this year on felony charges faced Residential Burglary and Third Degree Battery charges as a Habitual Offender on Wednesday, He caught seven years imposed on both felonies as well as a total of 26-years-suspended in the plea deal in open court.
Jones has a lenghty list of arrest and convictions on both sides of the Arkansas- Oklahoma border, but the biggest thing he is facing is in conjunction with a situation on the parking lot of the Poteau Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot in 2020.
That accident occured on December 17 of that year when Jones, driving a U-Haul truck, storage truck and killed 34-year-old Lawrence Garcia of Poteau. Hnes left the left the scene and was later stopped bnear Cameron by deputies with the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office.
It is unlear where Jones will be held pending the outcome of his trial in that case, which is schedled for yet another hearing next week in Poteau.
