Oklahoma Highway Patrol: Single-vehicle accident on Sequoyah County Road E1000 fatal t Paris man

A 23-year-old man from Paris, Arkansas, was killed Saturday night when the vehicle he was driving left a rural roadway and struck a tree in Sequoyah County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Adam W. Chandler was traveling eastbound on County Road E1000 (also referred to as East 1000 Road) at a high rate of speed around 9:45 p.m. when his vehicle departed the roadway to the left, troopers reported. He overcorrected to the right, left the roadway a second time, and struck a tree near the intersection with County Road N4632 (North 4632 Road).

Chandler, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene. Next of kin have been notified.

The crash remains under investigation by Trooper Jordan Galvan #311 of Troop C (Sequoyah County Detachment). Information from the preliminary report is subject to change, the Highway Patrol stated.

No passengers were involved, and no further details on vehicle type, possible contributing factors such as weather or impairment, or exact cause have been released publicly as of early Sunday afternoon.

Paris lies roughly an hour’s drive from portions of Sequoyah County, placing the crash in a border-area rural setting of county roads rather than a major highway.

Single-vehicle run-off-road crashes involving speed and failure to wear a seatbelt remain a recurring factor in fatal rural accidents across the region.
