The Arkansas State Police say an Oklahoma City man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle as he lay on the pavement on Exit 37 off I40 Monday night .
Police say 55-year-old Lavel D. Hammons was fatally injured when he was run over by a commercial truck in the Franklin County accident. Hammons was reportedly “lying in the roadway” when an eastbound 2015 Mack Truck 18-wheeler ran over him at 8:35 p,m.
There is no information as to why Hammons was lying in the roadway at the time of the incident.
Weather conditions were cloudy and road conditions dry according to ASP troopers that worked the accident.
