The Arkansas State Police posted a preliminary report on Friday after a short delay in which they tried to identify a female victim killed in an accident Wednesday in Pope County.
According to the report filed by officer John Brown of the Russellville Police Department a 2022 Toyota Venza was in the turn lane of State Highway 7 at the intersection with State Highway 124. A 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling in the inside Lane of State Highway 7 approaching the intersection where the Venza was waiting to turn.
The Venza, at the direction of the traffic signal, started to make a left turn on State Highway 124. The motorcycle crossed the center line on State Highway 7 and drifted into the northbound traffic lane, striking the driver side of the Toyota.
The driver of the motorcycle was 24-year-old Jesse Cruz of Tarrant texas. A female passenger on the motorcycle, who officials have yet to identify, was thrown from the bike and killed...
The unidentified female's body has been sent to the Pulaski County Coroner's office and Cruz was transported to UAMS in Little Rock with unknown injuries.
Officer Brown noted clear weather conditions and a dry roadway at the time of the accident, which produced the 363rd fatality of the year on Arkansas roads and highways.
