Officials say body located in rural Oklahoma found near car, purse of missing Springdale woman

Investigators with multiple agencies say a body was found Monday near Kansas , Oklahoma, fueling speculation on a case involving a missing Washington County woman.


On Sunday at approximately 2:00pm a detective with the Springdale Police Department received a call that missing Springdale woman Ava Moore's purse and contents had been located in rural Kansas, Oklahoma by a citizen.


Her vehicle was located a short distance away unoccupied.


On Monday, October 25, 2021 at approximately 11:00 am while searching the area around Moore's car, detectives with the Springdale Police Department as well as Agents with OSBI and Deputy's with the Delaware County Sheriff's office in Oklahoma located a deceased female a short distance from Moore's vehicle.


OSBI will be taking over the investigation and the body of the deceased female will be sent to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's office for positive identification and manner and cause of death.


Springdale PD confirmed Monday that the OSBI is taking over the investigation.

The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.
