Officials detail shooting in Leflore County on Wednesday that left one man critically wounded



Law enforcement officials in Leflore County have released more information on the shooting we first told you about early Wednesday afternoon.


On Wednesday, Deputies with the Leflore County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a dispute with possible weapons between individuals in the vicinity of River Bend Road and Possum Valley. While Deputies were on the way the call was escalated to a shots fired call.


When Deputies arrived on scene they located an adult male with gunshot wounds and severe trauma to his facial region.

Life saving measures were started until EMS could arrive. Responding deputies wee told two other males were involved and they were in a truck and on a motorcycle.


Deputies and Officers from the Poteau Police Department were able to stop the two other individuals down the road without incident. Upon safe approach they learned that the driver of the truck had multiple gunshot wounds as well. The male on the motorcycle had no apparent major injuries and no gunshot wounds.

After further investigation and interviews from Sheriffs Office Investigators one male was taken into custody and is facing charges related to the incident and is being held in the Leflore County Detention Center.


Both wounded individuals were life-flighted out and are in critical condition.


This is an ongoing criminal investigation.
