Newton County motorcycle crash on SH 123 in Mount Judea proves fatal to 82-year-old Florida man

The Arkansas State Police is reporting an accident that occurred Sunday in Newton County that took the life of a Florida resident.


According to information from the Arkansas State Police and the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, 82-year-old John Wayne Eason of Navarre, Florida was piloting a 2016 Triumph motorcycle northbound on State Highway 123 and just before noon on Sunday.


As Eason passed through the city of Mount Judea on the state highway the motorcycle ran off the road on the north side just south of the intersection with Sam Thorne Road The motorcycle then struck a rocky embankment ditch.


Easton was pronounced dead at the scene and his body taken to a funeral home in Harrison.


Investigating Trooper Candace Park noted that the weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the fatal accident.


Easons death isthe 435th of the year on Arkansas Highway.
